Party turns to Mission
by Anissa Bluebaum on 05/27/11
Last week, our Anniversary party was postponed due to torrential rains in the Ozarks. Of course, our weather was pale in comparison with what was to happen on Sunday, May 22rd to our neighbors in Joplin, Missouri. As Mrs. Bluebaum also owns a construction company, she felt compelled to take the equipment she has and supplies to help with the recovery process. She assembled a strong group of about 15 volunteers to use that equipment to lift and cut through the wreckage to help tornado victims find important papers and belongings.
If you wish to help in Joplin as well, remember that this recovery has only just begun. It is going to take a long time to get our neighbors back on their feet. Continue to donate money to charities such as Convoy of Hope, Ozarks Food Harvest and The Salvation Army. If you want to personally volunteer, just be sure to have a plan and your own resources. Even if it is weeks after the tornado hit, your help will be appreciated and welcomed.
As the death toll rises, our thoughts and prayers and minds are with the victims of our neighbors in Joplin, Missouri. We'd like to thank the City of Ozark for offering the use of the OC for parking over the three long days that our volunteers were working. Also thanks to our crew for being so strong and working so hard!
